These four events will be held on 6 – 11 October at The Mulia, Mulia Resort and Villas – Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.&nbsp;</span><br></p><p>The AIS Youth Conference is a platform that accommodates youth participation and meaningful involvement in processes and activities as part of the AIS Forum’s strategic initiative to develop and increase regional awareness.&nbsp;</p><p>This event will be attended by 25 youths from 24 AIS Forum participating countries who have undergone a selection process by the AIS Forum Secretariat.&nbsp;</p><p>Various activities will be carried out at the AIS Youth Conference, including site visits to the local fishing industry and marine eco-tourism in Bali.&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, the AIS Research &amp; Development Conference is an event that brings together oceanographers, marine biologists, scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, and visionaries from around the world in a dynamic forum for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and exploration of new solutions.&nbsp;</p><p>A total of 30 researchers from participating countries will attend and present the results of their research and development related to several strategic issues. These issues are also within the umbrella of the AIS Forum's Research and Development focus, such as Marine Biotechnology Innovations, Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture, Ocean and Technology, and Blue Economy.&nbsp;</p><p>Furthermore, there will be a site visit to two study and development centers related to sustainable marine innovation in Bali on 11 October.&nbsp;</p><p>The next side event is the AIS Start-up Blue Business Summit, which is a series of events held as part of the 1st High-Level Meeting of the AIS Forum. As the name suggests, this summit focuses on the blue economy sector and its development in Indonesia and AIS countries.&nbsp;</p><p>The AIS Blue Startup Hub provides a great opportunity for innovators and communities to harness the power of the ocean through innovation and investment in the blue sector. Investment in the blue sector is critical to unlocking the potential of the ocean and creating a sustainable future for island nations to mitigate the impacts of climate change.&nbsp;</p><p>This event will connect industries and startups in the blue sector with marine technology to encourage knowledge exchange, networking, and partnership opportunities.&nbsp;</p><p>Those who will be attending this event are representatives of start-ups, researchers, investors, non-governmental and community organizations, and governments. The conference will welcome more than 200 participants daily in various scheduled sessions.&nbsp;</p><p>Lastly, the AIS Blue Economy High-Level Dialogue brings together world leaders, experts, thinkers, and business leaders to shape a new era of sustainable blue economy growth. It will also strengthen collaboration for more reliable and accessible blue financing to accelerate its implementation. This event is designed to present High-Level Remarks, High-Level Dialogues, and Indonesia Policy Showcase from various stakeholders.&nbsp;</p><p>The high-level dialogue’s participants include ministries/agencies from Indonesia, business and industry leaders working on/ interested in sustainability issues, especially on the ocean and blue economy, start-ups from 30 AIS countries, experts and academics, practitioners, development partners and institutions, NGOs, as well as CSOs.&nbsp;</p><p>The dialogue has several objectives. First, it is to convene world leaders, experts, investors, and business leaders on the blue economy to engage in discussions and meaningful collaboration regarding the blue economy. Second, it is to facilitate in-depth discussions to identify key opportunities and barriers for developing reliable blue financing in archipelagic and island states.&nbsp;</p><p>Lastly, it is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise among participants to enhance the capacity of archipelagic and island countries in developing, implementing, and monitoring blue economy initiatives.&nbsp;</p><p>Despite its start on 6 October, the opening ceremony of the side events will be held on 9 October at the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. The opening ceremony will be attended by high-ranking officials from various ministries in Indonesia, representatives from AIS countries, and other international organizations.&nbsp;</p><p>The opening ceremony will also feature the launch of two significant developments of the AIS Forum, namely the AIS Blue Hub and the AIS Research &amp; Development Center. Side Events of the 1st HLM of AIS Forum 2023 in Bali

Jakarta, 7 October 2023 – The 2023 High-Level Meeting of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum 2023 will be preceded by four side events, namely the AIS Youth Conference, the AIS Research & Development Conference, the AIS Start-up Blue Business Summit, and the AIS Blue Economy High-Level Dialogue. These four events will be held on 6 – 11 October at The Mulia, Mulia Resort and Villas – Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.
